ISAF soldier killed, militants arrested in Afghanistan

Kabul (UNN) A soldier of the International Security Assistance Force was killed in southern Afghanistan, the military said on Monday. Separately, the Afghan and international troops said they had arrested several suspected militants in eastern Afghanistan. Press office of the multinational forces said one British soldier was killed when his patrol came under small arms fire from militants in southern Afghanistan. Majority of the British troops are stationed in the volatile Helmand province of the country.
The military said the incident happened on Sunday. Separately, the local and international troops said they had arrested several militants during a raid in Chapparhar district of the eastern Nangarhar province. The press office said no shots were fired during the operation and no civilians, Afghan or ISAF soldiers suffered injuries./UNN
